Hey Dreamer

I heard in a movie recently that the average person lives 27,375 days. That caused me to take a step back and really think about what I am doing with my days here on earth. It brought the phrase “Carpe Diem-Seize the Day” to life for me in a whole new way. And what does it actually mean to “seize the day?” Merriam Webster’s dictionary puts it like this: To do the things one wants to do when there is the chance instead of waiting for a later time. Every day that you wake up with breath in your lungs, and a heart that is beating, you have the chance to go after those dreams that you have. Why are you waiting? What is holding you back? I’ve often said to myself, “I’ll wait until I have more money. I’ll wait until I’m married. Someone else is already doing that, so I’ll just scratch that off my list.” Excuses- most of which come from a place of fear, fear of What if I fail? What if no one likes it? What if I fall flat on my face? Can we all just vow to make 2021 the year that we stop with all the “what ifs” and the “I’ll wait untils?” Can we agree to stop playing the comparison game during our social media scrolling? Sure, someone else may be succeeding in something that you dream about doing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be successful in that area as well. There might be thousands of other people doing what you long to do, but that industry doesn’t have a YOU. You are unique and bring your own special creativity and flavor that people need. You have the ability to reach people that others can’t. What if Martin Luther King Jr. decided he didn’t need to go after justice, and share his dreams of a free world for all people, because there were already people fighting that fight? What if Walt Disney decided not to create the most magical place out of fear that it would fail? What if C.S. Lewis never put pen to paper because there were already so many great authors? Can you imagine?!

I am fully convinced that the Lord has an open invitation for us to come dream with Him. I am fully convinced that the very things our hearts burn with passion for, are from Heaven above and are directly tied to our destiny. I am fully convinced that if we hold the Lord’s hand as we step out in faith, listening to His voice for direction, He will breathe life to the dreams inside of us. So, my question for you this week is, what are you doing with your number of days? Are you making each day count? Are you sitting in fear or are you being bold and taking risks? I once again encourage you this week to write down your dreams, and then create a list of action steps you’re going to take to get there.

Hey dreamer, keep dreaming and get moving.
